Shift Gear Racing were proud to announce on Thursday that Luke Maguire (IRE) and Miguel de Los Rios (PER) will be their driver line-up for the 2018 GPVWC Formula Challenge season. Alongside their driver announcement, the team unveiled their 2018 challenge

The Cornish team, based in St Austell, UK makes it debut in GPVWC, with two fast drivers who are capable of bringing the team a successful debut season. SGR's Team Principal, Christopher Rabey is hopeful leading into the first pre-season test.

"We have been a bit quiet in the run up to the beginning of the season. Since we knew we got accepted into the GPVWC Formula Challenge series, we have been hard at work preparing the team, and making sure everything is ready for when the cars roll out the garage in Mexico in less than three weeks time.

"Having Luke sign for the team was a real great start, and then signing Miguel really capped things off, and our hopes are high for Melbourne. The good news, is there's a new car and that means everyone has been reset in terms of setting up the car, we're a small team so learning the ropes may take a few rounds.

"We completed a shakedown with the new car at a private test at Silverstone in early January and the times the two drivers were doing looked promising, and their feedback to the setup and car has been fantastic, the real test comes in Mexico where we will see where we stand on the time sheets."

Also the team is delighted to announce Luis Felipe Capamadjian (PER) as the team's test and backup-driver for the season. Luis Felipe is a highly experienced sim racer, mostly focused on GT-cars. He will assist the team with his experience to find the best setups for the car.

Luke Maguire
"I'm looking for us to establish ourselves as a frequent top 10 team in the standings with hopefully a few podiums between myself and Miguel. So far the team has been very professional, kind and has a great atmosphere as we all get on so great!

"Team goals are top 5 in the constructors and hopefully either me or Miguel can fight for the championship. Last year was my very first year in sim racing, and I believe I showed a good raw speed, this year I hope to take a giant leap, and have that pace from the start and translate it into results the team deserves."

Miguel de Los Rios
"This year season I'm making my debut in sim racing in a competitive way an what better way to start it than GPVWC, i really look forward to get better and better every day with all the top notch drivers in the series.

"The team is pretty solid i believe my teammate is very confident and experienced so I can learn a lot there. And being some good points to the team. My objectives for this year are to get as high in the table as possible at the end of the season and learn as much as possible from my teammate Luke, and thanks to SGR for giving me the chance."
