Southern Cross United Motorsport endured a troublesome first weekend in Europe but still managed to come away with 9 valuable points.

The weekend in San Marino started very promisingly with both Harding and Regan stringing together some competative lap times on Friday. Dawn on the qualifying day saw everything take a turn for the worse.

Both drivers were unable to drive in Saturday's practise sessions, Harding due to business commitments and Regan due to a terrible cold and sinus infections. Limited practice time and shortened qualifying sessions for both drivers saw their times well outside what they had both considered achievable.

Race day saw the heavens open making for a wet race which neither driver had experienced in a Grand Prix car before. On top of this the car setup that both drivers were using was basically untested.

Harding got a resonable start but found it hard to make any forward progress through the field then on lap 10 a damaged front wing forced him into the pits. This unscheduled stop threw off the planned pit strategy and forced Harding into a few more laps than he'd have liked in a couple of his stints.

Regan, on the other hand, had a woeful start. During the first lap he spun in oil dropped by the exploding Ferrari engine of James Davidson, the spin flatspotted the tyres and Regan struggled around the track until heavier rain forced a pit stop on lap 16. Regan's times during the heavy rain were pretty competetive and he managed to pick up a few places.
