Dan Lawrence finished 11th in the Austrian Grand Prix, taking home just 1 Championship point. All of this came as a surprise to the Briton who in Qualifying for the race obtained his best grid slot ever in 6th place.

"It was a strange weekend", commented Lawrence, "I went into practice thinking that top 10 was possible at a push but really surprised myself by qualifying in 6th - especially as I can't stand this track and am not really much good here. Nevertheless, I found a pretty good setup in the car and got to grips with the circuit.

Unfortunately my concentration and effort has been diluted massively over the weekend as I have been 'sticking my fingers in too many pies'. I flew back to England straight after Qualifying to attend a University class which shouldn't have posed as much of a problem as it did except for the fact the class over-ran by a considerably large chunk of time. By the time I got back to Austria I was exhausted and on auto-pilot. I fell asleep during the briefings and missed the advice of the team - opting for a 2 stopper instead of the better planned 3 stopper. All in all, this added to tiredness and major lack of concentration meant that I was probably only racing at 75% of my ability today ....very disappointing for myself - and more importantly - the team

I am guessing I could have ran at Antonio's pace today, it would definately have been an interesting battle and I hope to race against him later in the season, something the team need to discuss further before the next Grand Prix, he is a damn fast driver and could really get us some good points later on in the season if we used him."

Lawrence has now left Austria and returned to England to focus heavily on his studies for the remainder of the week. He plans to travel to Monaco over the weekend and take some 'time out' before the Grand Prix.
