Calvin Hermse is a Dutch driver in the GPVWC who is driving for PP Dynamic in the Supercup series.

2013 - The beginning

Calvin signed with Wauters Automotive and will be competing in the Formula Challenge competition, and about a month later, he signed with Vod:Bul Racing for the World GT.

Although Hermse was always proud of driving with an extremely low budget compared to others, that would give him trouble as in his first race he ran in 12th, but then discovered an problem with the brake pedal, forcing him to drop to P17, and being unable to start in his second race. The World GT performance was affected by this as well. After being somewhat forced off track during the 2013 Monza GT Race, Hermse had to forfeit mentally already after lap 1, as he was nearly being lapped. 8 laps before the end, the damage got too much, and Hermse had no other choice but then to park his car safely. The 2013 Formula Challenge Malaysian Grand Prix would show improvement, with Hermse being able to make the right call and under tough conditions finish in 13th place, after starting in 28th position. The second race, on the other side, Hermse made the wrong call, with the opposite result.

From there on it just went further downhill. Hermse would prove to be quite fast in both the Formula Challenge and the World GT, by, in the Formula Challenge, outqualifying his teammate in Austria, in a race which proved to be tricky. After a lap 1 incident, Hermse fought back from P32 to P16. The second race, Hermse would crash into the not moving car of his teammate as part of a bug. The World GT, however, looked more promising, but with broken rear axes in a lap 1 incident, after going a bit off track, would mean that Hermse and Vod:Bul Racing decided it might be worth to look for another driver.

World GT Contract Termination

After the Austrian World GT race, Hermse's teammate was forced to leave the team. One race after that, the race on Spa, Hermse would leave too, after a 16th place finish, saying the team should be fighting for podiums, not points.

2013 - Formula Challenge and Supercup success

During the Hungarian Formula Challenge race, Hermse would show some sign of improvement after a 10th and 14th position finish. Another noticeable archievement was the Canadian race weekend: Hermse would fight back from P40 to P14 in the first Formula Challenge race, and drive to a well deserved 12th place in the Supercup, filling in for Andreas Wauters in the Fox Racing in monsoon conditions, without wet weather experience. He showed a good grid position is sometimes not important; He spun on the formation lap and was forced to start from the pitlane.

Move to Supercup

After the Canadian Grand Prix, Hermse and Wauters Automotive went seperate ways when PP Dynamic offered a drive in the Supercup for the rest of the season. In the Korean Grand Prix, Hermse would not finish, but in the Turkish Grand Prix he would achieve PP Dynamics second best finish this season by finishing in P10 after qualifying in P16.
