EIRE Team manager William Ponissi called a Press conference today to announce the signing of Australian Star Scott Whiteman as driver for the 2004 season.

Whiteman, 22, has a solid experience in motor racing, although he'll be making his debut in the F1VWC. The man from DownUnder was asked many questions by the press, and released the following statement:

"Having arrived at F1VWC not long ago i was invited for 2 test sessions with EIRE, on these occasions management seemed suitably impressed and it wasn't long before i had a contract in my hands, hopefully i will be able to take some race wins during the season and help EIRE to a championship".

Thoughts obviously go to Daniel Wilkinson's experience with EIRE, which led the Australian to be just 1 point shy to the World Crown.

Team boss Ponissi said: "Well, Scott was soon fast in last year's car, despite trying it out for the first time in a short private session in Monza. We were so impressed we chose to sign him up as soon as possible, as we knew he was being targeted by other teams, including SCUM and Phoenix F1. We sincerely hope that he'll be as successful as Daniel Wilkinson was in 2003 - that'd be great for the team".
