Two drivers appealed their disqualifications from the Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying session and have been successful. Jason Smith & Andrew Dickson have both been allowed to race without penalty.

The Verdict

Both drivers were driving with no idea of the rules. It has been determined that their Team Managers should have sent them section 10 of the rules, which they did not, making it a team error and not a driver error.

In Jasons case, he cut a corner, but did not have the driving rules and accompanying screenshots depicting what is and isn't allowed in regards to corner cutting. Therefore he did not know he was doing wrong by cutting the corner (which was debateable anyway).

In Andrews case, he used 90% steering help while using an analogue controller. This was because he was also not sent section 10 of the rules and did not know about the steering help limit for analgue controllers.

It has been decided that the drivers should be allowed to race with no penalty and that they are eligible for points.

It has also been decided that due to team errors, the teams in question [DL Racing & DPI] will not be allowed to have any Constructors points that Jason or Andrew score.

ALL team managers should be reminded that it is their responsibility to forward section 10 of the 2001 rules to each driver.

Please Note: Daniel Lawrence was not allowed to vote in this particular meeting due to 1 of the appeals being from his own driver.
