January 29, 2016

It's that time of the season where the driver lineups and livery reveals are coming in thick and fast, with Zedderick Racing announcing the drivers of their #85 and #87 cars for the Formula Challenge series.

Although the release of the pre-season roster has let the cat out of the bag somewhat, we here at Zedderick Racing are still very proud, and excited, to formally introduce our drivers for the 2016 Formula Challenge season.

Driving for us again this year is Englishman Ben Willis, this time driving the #85 car. Joining him is race-winner Terence Grech from Malta, driving, at special request, car number #87.

Ben Willis had the following to say: "Firstly I'd like to thank Doug for allowing me to continue with the team for another year. Although last year's results were not amazing for me, it was by far the best team I have driven for in my short career. There was a great team atmosphere and I had the opportunity to work with some brilliant people.

"2016 is all about getting regular and consistent points finishes. I know I have the pace to do this in rFactor 2, especially with the FC car, a car which I am really enjoying driving at the moment. Also the opportunity to drive alongside someone as fast and as talented as Terence is a real privilege, and if preseason is anything to go by, I can envisage many a close battle between us! The move to rFactor 2 will definitely turn the form books for everyone upside down so it's a bit of an unknown as to where we will be by the time we reach Australia, but I'm confident both myself and Terence can mount a real challenge for solid points scores."

Terence added: "I decided to compete in FC this season with Zedderick Racing and I wish to thank Douglas here for accepting me into his team. Unfortunately, last season's Supercup car didn't suit me so in the last few races I decided to race again in FC and scored several top-6 finishes and a podium. In 2016 I hope I can achieve more points finishes, the higher the better. I have a good feeling with rFactor 2 as the mod is more realistic than in rFactor 1, so I am very optimistic.

"Driving with Ben is great. Though I don't know him that well, we are working well together and sharing opinions together regarding setup and stuff to help the team achieve the best possible results.

"I can't wait for the first race in Australia to see where we are as a team."

Doug Hilliard, Team Principal, concluded: "I am absolutely delighted to have Ben and Terence in the team this year. Ben has demonstrated his fierce loyalty and commitment time and again last year and has already proven his quick adaptation to rFactor 2 and the new mods, and his pace is faster than ever. Terence is a good friend and has proven form as a race-winner; I was thrilled to have been approached by him and was only too happy to offer him a drive.

"In Ben and Terence I believe we have a strong line-up, blending speed with consistency as well as serious commitment with a friendly atmosphere. I am under no illusion that points will be very hard fought for and our competition will be fearsome. I genuinely believe that we will give a good account for ourselves, and no matter what the result, it will never be through lack of trying, and will always follow in the spirit that we are here to have fun!

"Lastly, I wish to conclude by thanking all other drivers who showed interest in the team and by paying tribute once more to all who helped us over the last season, in FC and ITC; Tim Straub, Eduard and Gerard Batalla, Joonas Raivio and of course Andrejs Pestovs. I wish them all the very best for the new season, and hope that they feel they are still part of the team."

The date for the official unveiling of Zedderick Racing's 2016 livery will be announced at a later time. The identity of the team's third driver has yet to be determined and will hopefully be announced soon.
