Warm-up proved a problem for MCR driver Andy Graydon as he was only able to complete 4 laps before a plume of white smoke filled the air at 190 mph at the end of the main straight.

Clearly struggling to keep control of the car, the extra tarmac run-off area ensured that the car was able to stop before hitting the barriers. Graydon watched the rest of the session from the spectator banking, signing autographs and dodging retirement questions from the eager German supporters.
