Been going through the archives with Wayback Machine again and I've found a few pages from the original GPVWC site relating to 2000, which can hopefully fill in a few gaps.

They appear to have used a very unusual points system in 2000 - 20,16,14,13,12,11,10,6,4,3,2,1 with 1pt for pole and 1pt for fastest lap - with the top 12 scoring in what looks like two sets of the old F1 style points system joined together.
