One of only two events to make the jump from the Winter GT Series, for the 2013 World GT Series season the race will be held at Watkins Glen International, Watkins Glen. Despite the change in track however, the American GT Cup has retained its status as the Series' season closer. Before the 2013 race, a 'Lap of Remembrance' was held to pay tribute to the Porsche Supercup driver, Sean Edwards, and ex-Marussia F1 test driver, Maria de Villota; both of whom had passed away in the week preceding the event.
