2000 Monaco Grand Prix
The 2000 Monaco Grand Prix was the final race of the 2000 season and took place at the Circuit de Monaco circuit in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The very first GPVWC Drivers' World Championship was to be decided here at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix.
Going into the race Jason Endean (BA Racing) went in 7 points ahead of championship rival Thomas Kimmich (Silver Angels) and the pair had been closely matched all season and even though Endean missed the first GP at Monza. In qualifying it was first blood to Kimmich, who took pole and the important bonus point it offered. In the race itself both drivers struggled with backmarkers in the narrow streets, but in the end it was Endean who took the chequered flag just 2.3 seconds ahead of his German rival and in doing so Jason became the inaugural GPVWC Driver's Champion.
