Ron Squire was a driver in the GPVWC who in 2012 drove for Racing Team Schroten in Formula Challenge. He also drove for his own team in 2013 FC Called Squire Motorsports.

Ron's Pre-Career

Like many drivers, Ron didn't know what to do when first Entering the GPVWC, so he first introduced himself in the Forums then when no one responded he decided to go to the Job Centre and Request himself for a drive in the Formula Challenge Category, amazingly he had been offered a drive for RTS by Team Principal Roy Schroten and Ron accepts the Offer 'and the rest is History'

Ron's Career

Ron was due to start his First Race with the Team at the 2012 Challenge South African Grand Prix at Kyalami and Despite not turning up for Qualifying he managed a second to last row start, at the start he managed to escape some carnage at the first corner but after the back straight he collided with another vehicle causing for his suspension to be loose, so he went back to the pits, by which time he was 'Stone Dead Last' and he retired just 9 laps into the race and lapped about 3 times (5 Laps from the Leaders Perspective), He failed to Return for the Second Race.

Next was the 2012 Challenge Irish Grand Prix at Mondello Park and this time did turn up for qualifying, however poor qualifying performance forced him to the last row and the race didn't go any better either, he was disqualified from the race for blocking under blue flags and causing a avoidable collision on the front runners who was lapping him at the time, in the second race he was disqualified again for dangerous rejoining.

Next was the 2012 Challenge French Grand Prix at Circuit de Charade and a change of fortune in the first race despite being lapped 2 times he managed to finish the race with no disqualifications in 18th place, but in the second race on the first lap he was crashed out by another driver.

Finally it was the Last race of the season the 2012 Challenge Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Navarra (because the final race on the streets of Porto in Portugal was cancelled)and he qualified well but forgot to get to the grid in time so he started from the pitlane and was struggling to keep up with the rest of the field and just about near half way point he lost the brakes and crashed head first into the wall at the end of the long back straight, in the second race he was last to start but gained some places due to the first lap carnage which took his teammate and Ron had fresh Competition from Finnish GPVWC Rookie Tuomas Koriala, but half way he ran out of fuel despite checking the fuel carefully before the race and so ended his first season with RTS.

2nd of January 2013 and when Ron was told by Roy that he has two choices either stay at RTS but as a reserve driver only or Create his own team with connection to him and his brother Mike Schroten and ron chose to start his team Squire Motorsports

in the only Pre-season Test for the Formula Challenge ahead of the 2013 season with the introduction of Variable weather via RFE Plugin Series he did rather well in the tests he finished the session 19th out of 26 cars in two short pre-season races afterwards he finished in 8th place, but in the second race he crashed out in the second race and in certain polls in the GPVWC Forums he is tipped to be one of the favourites to be that years Drivers Champion, but not for long.

26th of February and the 2013 GPVWC FC Season got underway in Melbourne and it wasnt the start Ron was expecting, having a little punt with Simon Melhuish and Doug Hilliard when lining up on the grid this was due to ron having graphical difficulties, then after the start he retired on the first lap after his car got a little invloved in the first lap Mass Pile-up, the second race was more worse he crashed into another car after just starting, then to make matters worse having just being lapped by his teammate Jarl Teien he inadvertedly tried to unlap himself by tring to get the inside line and broke too-late thus taking Jarl off the track, so a woeful couple of races by ron, he was deeply sorry to everyone for those woeful races and despite his penalty he was 'Indefinetly Parked' until he improves his driving and cleans up his act, and since returing to the car to improve his techniques, he showed huge improvement he even impressed GPVWC Member of staff and RTS Driver Chris Williamson has he stated later on TS 'Well ron you certainly have improved there', But Still there is a long way to go and ron could be back in the cockpit in official races anytime soon.
