About the team
Mayor Downard Racing Team (formerly MDR Motorsports prior to 2018) was setup at the back end of 2016 by Co-Founders Jack Mayor and Josh Downard. The teams original plans were only to compete in the Fs3 Series at Simleague.de, however they have since stretched the team to other leagues such as WCS League and GPVWC.

MDR Motorsports 2017 Formula Challenge Entry
MDR Motorsports made an unusually late entry into the 2017 Formula Challenge campaign. After their original attempt to enter at the start of the season failed, it seemed their chances of a GPVWC Career Ladder debut in 2017 were gone. However, after an orignal team entry failed to enter either of the first two rounds of the championship, MDR Motorsports were given the opportunity to make their debut for round 3, and will continue till the end of the championship.
Within days of the news that they will be on the grid for the Chinese Grand Prix, they had already signed two primary drivers to begin their 2017 GPVWC campaign with. The driver line-up consisted of Simracing veteran and 2014 Chinese Grand Prix winner Philipp König, and 2017 Formula Challenge rookie Konrad Bar. MDR Motorsports hope to make a strong impact on their debuting season, and its team owners are confident that their driver line-up is capable of reaching it's goals and aspirations.
On the 10th of May, MDR Motorsports signed Tuomas Koriala as full time reserve driver for what was planned to be until the end of the year, However, in late June 2017, Tuomas announced he would be stepping down from the position after July. Late July, MDR announced that Koriala's Successor was to be Ryan Nash.
On the 24th of Novemeber, MDR announced they had retained Konrad Bar for the 2018 championship in the reserve role.

Mayor Downard Racing Team's 2018 Formula Challenge Entry
On the 24th of November, MDR Motorsports announced that they had retained Polish driver Konrad Bar for the 2018 Formula Challenge season in a reserve role.
On the 30th of November, MDR Motorsports announced that British driver Matthew Clipp and Dutchman Wesley Stefano would be filling the primary full-time seats in the Career Ladder team for 2018.
The team also announced their surprise plans to re-brand their outfit, which includes the renaming of the team to "Mayor Downard Racing Team (MDR)" as well as team colours changing from the original Red, Black and White, to a more striking Orange, White and Blue. However, just under a week before the first round in Melbourne, MDR had announced that Konrad Bar would be leaving the team due to commitments outside simracing.
The team later announced that his replacement would be Dan Brewer.
