The GPVWC Superleague teams arrived in Portugal in buoyant mood for the third test of the season . After two intense sessions in Jerez and Hockenheim, the week off has been spent by many of the outfits to develop the first developments to their contenders - and many of them will test their new devices here in Portimao.

With the R&D departments of most teams in full swing, the 12 cars of the Superleague are already starting to get their own peculiar identity, each reacting in a different manner according to the development plan chosen by managers and drivers. While, in time, each car will adapt to suit a particular kind of track, such differences are still in their infancy and are not likely to make much of an impact in this test - especially in as diverse a track as Portimao, with its mix of fast and slow corners.

If history taught the followers of GPVWC anything, however, it is that teams which neglect R&D usually get to regret it as the season progresses. The first steps towards developing new solutions for a car could as well be the most important in the fight for the Championship.
