Fresh on the back of his first win of the season, we've managed to catch up with Red Archer driver Jason Muscat. As well as answering some of our questions he's also taken time to do a lap of the Magny Cours track for our cameras.

Commentary: Adam Smith

) You kindly took the Red Archer around the track for us - how did your lap go and do you think the track suits your car?

JM. The lap was quite good, it was a clean one with no mistakes. To be honest I think we have a good package for all tracks this year. We're simply not fast enough yet to win. This track suits our engine as the Renault is very good on acceleration.

Q) Could you tell us a little about the circuit - which are the areas of the track that are most difficult/most interesting?

JM. The first 2 corners are quite easy as they are flat-out but turn 3 is very crucial, you must not have the wings too low as you'll lose a lot of speed that you need to keep as you exit the corner and come onto longest straight on the circuit. The second sector is quite simple. I think the most important section in Magny Cours is the last sector. This is because you need a very well balanced car. Even if you have the car perfectly balanced, if you don't take the correct line around the chicanes it's very easy to lose control and end up in a spin. There is only one line and you must stay on it at all times.

Q) You're notable in the community as one of the few to drive with a keyboard. How do you think this affects your driving style and do you consider it to be a big disadvantage or not?

JM. Since keyboard is digital (ON or OFF), it's very tricky and not easy to control the car while exiting corners and it is also difficult to be precise around corners. Thus I have to opt for lowest possible front wing on every track, however I usually also need to have high rear wings to get maximum traction out of corners. I love under-steer and combined with keys it works perfect for me. My driving style is very aggressive when alone on track but laid back when it comes to battling. I prefer staying where I am and not attack, instead of ending my race with a stupid move. Thus I prefer defending because I tend to get a little impatient while attacking. I really don't know if keyboard is a disadvantage or not. I have never tried a steering wheel so I can? tell. If you asked this question about 4 months ago I would say yes, as I couldn? change gears and I noticed that it was costing me a lot of time, but now I have learnt to change gears too.

Q) Red Archer have had a very strong start to the season so far - do you think the team can remain as competitive through the rest of the season?

JM. Yes, the team will surely remain competitive throughout the whole season. We are all practicing hard together and improving our car bit by bit. We have probably the best package on the grid for now, but we can't stall here, the other teams will work hard on their cars to catch us and we need to move on too. Our aim is to be their on the podium as regularly as possible but I can't say if we will will win again or not, it's too close to call and Joe Consiglio is eager to win too now.
