Superleague outfit Nordsjoen Racing is set to bounce back from a season that saw them lose the Constructors' Championship crown for the first time in four years, owners Birgitte Wangensteen and William Ponissi said - and they are planning to do so with a formidable driver pairing for 2012.

With Joe Consiglio yet to announce his plans for the 2012 season - the Maltese ace would be the first Champion to attempt to defend his title since Steve Elencevski in 2007 - and Pavel Loknovski's contract expiring at the end of the year, speculation has been rife over the drivers Nordsjoen would hire for next season. Several names have been associated with the Italo-Norwegian team, most notably Supercup Champion Bart de Vos, Dave Carr-Smith and even, in what would be a shocking move, 2011 rival Lee Morris.

Ponissi, however, was quick to deny any contract had been signed. "GPVWC rules state that contracts cannot be officialised before January 1st, and we find of little value to engage in pointless chat over who our drivers are going to be." Insistent rumours, however, increasingly link Carr-Smith to Nordsjoen after the Englishman made no secret of his desire to finally drive a competitive car. Carr-Smith had even put his name forward to substitute Loknovski after the latter's departure for the last few races of the season, only for Nordsjoen to plump for test driver Tom Parker.

And with Carr-Smith submitting an application to bring back his own team, CSG Racing, in the Supercup, the future of the Englishman might indeed be away from Nick Rowland's team.
