A new project, led by Superleague driver Tom van der Voort, might be seeing the light in the 2014 Formula Challenge.

A new Formula Challenge team might take a spot on next years grid. Nijo Racing driver Tom van der Voort has opted to enter his own team in the feeder series. The project, codenamed: "Making the cut" was initiated to provide Formula Challenge drivers a home to develop as a driver, or if you're not new to the scene, hone your skills even more.
Van der Voort will keep close to the drivers, helping them when needed and trying to use his own knowledge to get his drivers higher up.

"Starting my own team is my way of passing on everything that I've learned. But to be honest I think it goes both ways. I could learn them something, and there's probably lots of things that I can still learn. The great thing about Formula Challenge is that the cars are equal. So it will be the best driver with the best setup that will win the race. And I plan on getting that driver in my team."

Van der Voort is not afraid that starting his on FC team will interfere with his role at Nijo Racing. "My first task is obviously to get Nijo to the top spot. However, taking the lead of a team myself will take up time as well. Trying to balance between both tasks will be hard, but I'm confident things will work out."

When asked who will be driving the cars, and what the team name will be, Van der Voort avoids the subject. "First things first. With the new team cap on Formula Challenge, we might not even get in. I want to get the best drivers I can get, for obvious reasons, but we should get the team up and running first."
