With the 2025 Superleague season about to kick off at Albert Park, teams and drivers are gearing up for the first battle of the season. Based on 2024 performances, pre-season testing data, and team movements, here's a prediction for tonight's race!
Predicted Top 10 Finishers - Australian Grand Prix

Based on data from pre-season testing, last year's results and some predictions from the podcast, we have simulated the top ten to see who might win! Here are the results:

1st - Jan Granqvist (Super Venturi)
The reigning Superleague champion returns as the favourite, with his race consistency, adaptability, and raw speed making him a strong contender for the win. Super Venturi remains a top-tier team, and if Granqvist qualifies well, expect him to control the race from the front.

2nd - Tom Stevens (THR)
Runner-up in 2024, Stevens is expected to be Granqvist's biggest challenger once again. THR has looked fast in pre-season, but their race execution last year was not always bulletproof. If Stevens nails strategy and tyre management, he could fight for victory.

3rd - Jarl Teien (THR)
Returning full-time to Superleague, Teien is a proven race winner and will be eager to make his mark. Expect him to be on the pace early, though his lack of recent full-season running may mean he starts a step behind Granqvist and Stevens.

4th - Marc Schlueter (Edge Esports)
One of 2024's most consistent front-runners, Schlueter has the ability to extract the maximum out of the car, even if Edge isn't quite on THR or Super Venturi's level. A solid top-five result should be on the cards.

5th - Carlos Martin (TOP Esports)
Now leading TOP's charge, Martin could be a major wildcard. The Vertex engine remains a question mark, but his speed and aggressive racecraft could propel him into the top five. If he can qualify well, he might even fight for a podium.

6th - Robin Pansar (Edonis Engineering)
Pansar has proven himself as a fast and aggressive racer, and Edonis could be a dark horse this season. If their car is well-balanced over race stints, he should be in the fight for a top-six finish.

7th - Alex Lehoux (Road2Formula)
Could battle for P5-P10, depending on race pace. We talked about him in the podcast and he could challenge this season, and he's very quick over one lap.

8th - Dylan Fisher (AKA Hero)
AKA Hero showed flashes of strong form in pre-season, and Fisher has the ability to be a solid midfield presence. If the car has good tyre life, he could challenge the lower top 10 spots.

9th - Matthew Williams (Edonis Engineering)
The former Superlights champion is now with Edonis, Williams is likely to be involved in the battle for P7-P10. His steady approach should see him bring home important early-season points.

10th - Geoffrey Fournier (Epic Racing)
Epic Racing isn't expected to fight for wins at this stage of the season, but Fournier is a reliable driver who could snatch a point or two if things fall his way.

Who Just Misses Out?

Sven Schubert (Fraser Tartan Racing)
Working with THR will help him, he could threaten the top 10, especially based on pre-season testing pace.

Holland Racing Team
Stephane Rouault and Maciej Mlynek are both proven race winners in GPVWC Superleague, and have worked together before. Both have had a spell out, full-time, so will be hoping to fight in the top ten.

Zsolt Szucs (STAX Racing)
A strong midfield contender, Szucs is likely to feature in the top 15 at least if STAX carries solid race pace. His experience and consistency should help him capitalise on any attrition ahead.

Team Manager Thoughts

Sandeep Singh said that his predictions for the podium were 'Jan (Granqvist), Jarl (Teien) and Alex (Lehoux). As head of DC I hope there's no crashes please. Hopefully a good clean race with no incidents.' When asked whether he was prepared for tonight, he said 'depends, sometimes when you go into an event you wish you had another day or so to try another couple of changes.'

Toby Davis said 'from an FTR point of view, we're hoping for two finishes tonight, and points from both drivers would be a bonus.' Toby predicts that THR will start the season strong, but not to rule out HRT who he thinks 'will surprise a lot with their pace, if they've committed to the practice required for the first round.'

Final Thoughts

With THR, Super Venturi, and TOP expected to be the top three teams, the battle for the win should focus on Granqvist, Stevens, and Teien. Martin could be a podium threat. Meanwhile, the midfield scrap will be intense, with several teams capable of scoring points.

Who will come out on top at Albert Park? We'll find out tonight!
