The 2022 Formula Sprint 1 will be the 1st GPVWC Formula Sprint 1 season. The name Formula Sprint 1 was created to replace the GPVWC Supercup Series which did run for 14 seasons.

Team changes
- Red Arrow Racing and 2021 Supercup champions THR were promoted to Superlights.
- Satellite Racing opted not to continued after the 2021 Supercup season.
New & Returning entries
- eTeamBRIT formerly known as Cosmo Seikki Japan joined the series after being dropped down from the Superleague Lights.
- TCS Off Racing, AlphaDelta Racing team, Smile Power Racing and Valle Esports, were all promoted from the Formula Challenge.
- Smile Power returned to the Career Ladder for the first time since 2015.

2022 Calendar
The 2022 season continued the previous raceday the Supercup had in 2021 the Thursday, every two weeks. The 2022 calendar follows the 16-round limit introduced in 2019. The first round will take place at Imola and the last will take place in Brazil, with each race taking place on a Thursday, every two weeks. The 2022 season saw the first time GPVWC used to have two breaks a Spring and Summer Break.,
