Masters Template

So... when are we going to get a Masters template for drivers? Given that she is a regular series, should definitely be part of it done. - PhillieC

Added now. Usage is the same as the Superleague one, but change 'SL' to 'MS' in the opening line when adding the infobox to a page. --Chris williamson 11:32, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
CoolaBoola! - PhillieC
While your at it.. and since I don't have a clue how to do it. Might as well set up the combined infobox's for it too so they can appear on driver pages with their choice of series? - Phillie C

DNS / DNQ / RC / PO / WD / DNP / blank / Ret / DNF

Since you added this part of the help Chris, I think this brings up a slight problem that we should try to address. The problem is - what defines these and differentiates them from each other. I do know that in the first few seasons there was some generosity, or a greater amount of leeway which, while it perhaps wasn't very consistent, allowed for drivers' no-shows. For example, being allowed to start from the back of the grid if you didn't qualify or sometimes accepting late files if there was an Internet problem for individuals or they had been busy in 'real life'.

In this respect, obviously the GPVWC was different from the real Formula 1 and also different from the GPVWC incarnation we have now.

I think all of us have been basically entering the data as we can, and kinda taking guesses here and there. The results spreadsheet we've been using often describes DNFs in certain positions, but we should try to ascertain for each season what constituted a DNF versus a retirement.

Also, for drivers who retired from a season (like Adam Rouse did during this season), should we enter "WD" for withdrew for the first race after the driver pulled out from the competition? --Mal McKee 19:18, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

The way I've been doing some of the recent tables I've completed is fairly straightforward and is as follows:
  • Driver is classified as a finisher: shown as the finish number and appropiate colour background
  • Driver starts the race, but isn't classified as a finisher: shown at 'Ret'
  • Driver is officially disqualified: shown as 'DSQ'
  • Driver takes part in practice and/or qualifying, but doesn't actually take part in the race itself: shown as 'DNS'
  • Driver is active in the competition, but doesn't compete in any of the sessions of a race: shown as '-'
  • Driver is not active in the competition (either before their first appearance of the season or after their withdraw): shown as blank
Personally I think the F1 key is needlessly complicated for our purposes and I don't really see the need for classifications such as PO, DNQ, DNPQ EX and NC. As for DNFs and Retirements, is there actually a difference? I've always felt them to be synonymous, but maybe there is some technical difference between the two that I'm not aware of.
For drivers who have formally withdrawn from a competition (as in Adam's case) then perhaps a 'WD' would be appropriate. Whether to use it where a driver has simply gone inactive is a little trickier in my opinion. --Chris williamson 21:05, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Useful templates

The code box that shows the example code for Rousey's infobox seems to go inside the actual example infobox. Is there a way to set the max width for that code box so that the text inside wraps?
