Whilst the team started unpacking the PF1-02 Test car for its first official outing at the Circuit de Catalunya later today, Phoenix F1 team boss Andy Graydon held a press conference to announce that Adam Fretter would partner the experienced Antonio Irisarri in the 2004 race team.

Adam was clearly pleased to have signed a full season race contract for a team known to pride themselves on dedication whilst having a bit of fun in the process!

Fretter is quite new to the racing scene, having made his first race appearance in the GPTC at the Monaco GP 2003. He then joined the SFO league in time to compete from Imola onwards as team mate to Paul Fawcett at Team Arela. At the USA Grand Prix he achieved every drivers dream - victory. Phoenix F1 hope that he can perform to the same, if not a higher, standard in 2004.

He certainly has a lot of experienced drivers to learn from, with Daniel Wilkinson; Antonio Irisarri; Jan Kelder & Mark Nieuwlaar froming a formidable partnership.

Adam thanked the team for taking him on board, commenting "I am sure I can make a valuable contribution to the team and am looking forward to squaring up to the more seasoned drivers of the league".

Fretter will be seen testing for Phoenix F1, but not in Spain. Due to the late signing of the contract, plans had already been made for a full driver line-up in Barcelona. However, he will be watching from the Pit wall to take on board just how the Phoenix F1 team functions, and to get to know his team-mates, mechanics and technicians - and the Boss of course!
