Joe Consiglio pushed hard in the Canadian GP and led several laps for the Phoenix F1 team, and came home 3rd just over 4 seconds behind the victor.

'Wow that was one tough race! I'd forgotten just how hard a full race distance can be. It was good fun though and 3rd is a good result. I was 3rd here a couple of years ago so its nice to get back on the podium again.'

'The race itself went quite smoothly. My pitstops were all good and I was able to lap consistently. I had just a few problems when lapping some backmarkers and unfortunately on more than one occasion I had to take avoiding action.'

'With my 3rd and Daniel's 7th, we've gained the team 8 points and slightly closed the gap to FinOz in the Constructors Championship battle for 3rd. So altogether its been quite a productive weekend.'

It looks increasingly likely that the Phoenix F1 team can only realistically challenge for 3rd in the Constructors, with Mapes-VO now simply too far away, and EIRE (with Whiteman) looking likely to score large points on a regular basis.

Daniel Wilkinson came home 7th in Canada - a race he so nearly won last year - but the team have identified a problem with the Australian drivers car. However, the problem is not an easy one to fix. The team would not provide any further details, but it could hamper Wilkinson's performances for the remainder of the season.

But the Canadian GP provided the team with 3 points more than the FinOz team, who now lie only 5 points ahead in the Constructors Championship. EIRE are also only 10 points ahead, so it should be an interesting battle for the remianing 9 races of the season.

Consiglio is set to return (partnering Irisarri after his vacation) at Silverstone - his home GP (as well as the teams), perhaps this could be a dream come true for both with the potential for victory remaining high following his Canadian GP performance.

However, the next event in the USA provides Kieran Ryan the chance to impress in a front running car for the first time this season. He makes his long awaited debut for the team, with expectations high for another promising GP for Phoenix F1.
