Daan van Renswoude will drive the British GP for EiRE Jaguar! What a headline! What a surprise!!

Daan van Renswoude, one of the fastest drivers in the 2002 GPVWC season, is back! At least, he will drive the British GP for EiRE Jaguar. Ross Loram will give his seat to van Renswoude during the British GP of the 2004 season.

A short interview with Daan van Renswoude was held at the EiRE Office this evening:

Hello Daan van Renswoude, welcome here at the EiRE office. After the 2002 Canadian GP, you suddenly stopped racing in the GPVWC, how come?

"I got an offer from my team boss to race in the GPC. He also had a team there and because the level was a bit higher I started racing in the GPC".

So, the last 2 years you have been active in the world of sim-racing?

"No, actually I quit racing in the GPC shortly after I quit the GPVWC, because I just didn?t want to race anymore at that time. Another problem was that GP4 just came out and my PC was not good enough at that time to play GP4, so I quit sim-racing in 2003".

That means that the last 1½ years you haven?t been racing?

"Not in a league no. I did do some laps every once in a while, to see if I could still do it. To try and drive a good hotlap and see if I could still drive in a league, but I never seriously did something with that".

Then this will be your big comeback in the renamed F1VWC and to sim-racing (within a league), what are your expectations?

"Indeed this will be my big comeback. My expectations are not too high, although I hope than I can compete with the top of the grid. The British GP will be my first race. I know the circuit, so I think it will be alright, I hope for a good result. After that GP we will see what happens".

What do you know about the EiRE Jaguar team and about your teammates?

"Not much really. Mr.Ponissi got me back into this league, so I talked to him mostly. He is very nice and a good team boss, I think. I know Scott Whiteman is very fast, I also know his name from various other leagues, but I never spoke to him. I think that will work out though and I will meet the rest of the team soon, I suppose".
