Due to technical difficulties at the F1VWC News desk last week, here are 3 news items re-sent by team boss Oliver Woods. They cover the teams first victory at Silverstone, Goodley's retirement from the F1VWC, and Williams Pole in Germany!

British GP Victory!

Woods complete the double Woods Racing were left absolutely speechless after Philip Williams romped home to a convincing victory, 50 seconds over the FinOz of Elencevski. An emotional Oliver Woods ran to Parc Ferme to meet Philip, before joining Philip, Elencevski, and Scott Whiteman on the podium for the first time in his life.

Woods writes:

"It was a very special moment for me - after half a season of some luck and a lot of bad luck, I never imagined getting both pole and a win in our humble team's books - to be honest I didn't even expect seeing a driver on the podium, so to get up there, hear the British national anthem, pick up the trophy, hear the crowd go mad and get drenched in champagne - at our home race - is absolutely amazing. The whole team then crowded into the Woodsmobiles, showing great team spirit, and went down to my home town of Croydon for a late night party to celebrate. Of course, being 14 I couldn't get drunk, but I think the amount of drink the boys had and deserved was enough for me anyway!

We now really hope we can do something in Hockenheim to look creditable - we know we are returning to Chris and Phil but I know they can pull something out of the bag. We want to go higher."

Chris Goodley to quit!

Woods Racing driver Chris Goodley, scorer of the team's only points before Silverstone, has decided to leave the team and quit Grand Prix 4 racing completely. The young Brit had long been bored of the racing, and finally decided to leave after Silverstone, though having no problems with Woods Racing at all.

It's a big blow for the team to lose Chris. He has been our most figuring driver, having completed all but 1 races (which was Silverstone) and a lot of testing. We're sad to see him go and wish him well whatever he does now. Now the team must find a new driver for after Germany - we are lucky enough to have Philip Williams driving again and we hope this will give us an edge and a chance at two pole/win doubles in a row!

Philip Williams makes it 2 poles out of 2

Philip Williams took his second successive pole at Germany today - albeit due to a disqualification. Philip gave a lap of 1.36.7 to finish 2nd in the session, until Paul Sleight was DQed due to running off the track. "Well, we won't be throwing a party tonight but the team will be having a lot of Pepsi," smiled Oliver Woods when we caught up with him. "We're quite happy that we got another pole and the fastest legal lap, but it was rather close and we'll be looking to set the pace and make it a double with the race. 10 points here would put us in 5th position which would be a big step and a big surprise after a slow half season. We'd love to think this can help us in 2005 to get some new blood in to replace Chris at least - only time will tell."
