McConkey takes his first career pole ever, but he didn't seem quite as excited as you'd think. He briefly commented his reasons.

"Well, don't get me wrong it's a great feeling seeing your name at the top of the time sheets, but I just wish I didn't get my first pole under these circumstances. I was just lucky when I went out the track was fairly easy to drive with the inters. At the end of the day, a pole is a pole though, so I will take it! I'll try my best in the race."

Meanwhile, Paul Sleight qualified in 7th position. The team and Paul were quite pleased with it. Sleight gave a comment about his lap. "Hmm, it was wet."

McConkey spoke from a team manager point of view, "The team did a great job in qualifying, on the dry race setups in the wet. I got lucky with my lap because I could go out when the rain had let off. Paul went out when it was fairly wet and he did a fantastic lap with that setup and other things. We all hope the race goes just as well."
