On Tuesday evening it was offically confirmed that Matt Maple would stop managing and working alongside the governing body in the F1VWC, therefore leaving Peter Van Oostende as the sole owner at the team.

His PR read out the following statement: "It is with great regret that i am resigning as team head of mapes-vo before the 2005 season, ive had 3 great years at top level management building up a nobody team with a crap engine into the most successful team in the league, however to some people that is of no relevance and the image of our team has been destroyed due to rules that i do not believe in, good luck peter"

Maple's PR then left and the press conference ended.

Its been a very successful time for Maple in the F1VWC, winning 5 trophies out of 6, turning a 734 pile of crap engine into a 855BHP beast with Honda, and also having the unique record of being able to say the team only had 3 full time drivers... albeit about 10 stand ins. Maple will leave knowing that he did his best, and times change, with new teams and new drivers... and a new outlook the league is evolving and expanding.

Regarding the Governing body Maple was quoted as saying "we dont get a say in anything anyway so what is the point of being on it!!!" after it was announced he will also quit the GB as effective immediately. Maple has been on the Governing body for 2 years and was also going to be responsible for making the carset as last year, however at this time it is unknown whether he will do so again this year.
