Glenn Bowen announced his intention to retire from driving.

"I am withdrawing as a race driver for the 2001 season.

Business commitments & my involvement in F3000 in Japan have made me make this decision.

At the moment my time is being pulled in too many directions & at this time I have to put my business interest's first. Also the salary that I could command from a race seat is not nearly enough to secure my financial future.

I am however making myself available as a test driver. I believe I could learn a lot & also bring a lot to a team in a testing role. This I feel would also prepare me better for a race seat in the GPVWC for 2002 as I will be racing in the other formula mentioned over the next 12 months.

I still hope to play an active part in the league even if my services are not retained as a test driver."
