It might have taken them 6 years, but finally the Yellowbirds racing team is part of GPVWC. The Belgian outfit, which first applied for a slot in the World Championship in 2004, was the successful applicant to fill the 12th slot of the Superleague grid, and has a setup ready to take part in Thursday's test at the A1-Ring.

"We have a test livery ready, and one final one that will be unveiled in Melbourne" announced manager Marco Vandenbroeck, previously a driver at Williamson and rumoured to be the main driver in the new team. Yellowbirds is expected to look for an engine deal and some funding at the moment, with all contracts expected to be done before the test.

"It is a pleasure to have a loyal team like Yellowbirds within the league - the way they have followed us since 2004 is testimony of the quality of our work and we hope to repay this trust with an excellent season" said GPVWC Admin William Ponissi, "we now have a lineup with 12 stable and committed teams, and I can't wait for Melbourne to come."
