The Midnight Motorsport team has revealed that, following his victory in Abu Dhabi, Team Principal Nick Rowland will increase focus on his driving, prompting the team to promote Technical Director Dave Carr-Smith to the role of acting Team Manager.

Whilst Rowland will retain his role as Team Principal, Carr-Smith will now manage the day-to-day operations of the team; a role that, according to the team, Carr-Smith had previously been fulfilling alongside Rowland since stepping down from driving for the Midnight Motorsport squad in October 2011.

When questioned, Rowland was eager to clarify the reasoning behind the move.

"It has become clear in the recent times that we require a big team effort to allow Lukas and I to be able to run the way we currently have been. That said I discussed with Dave the possibility of allowing him to have more control of the team which in turn would allow me to focus more on the driving this season with Lukas as much as we can for the team coming into the European stages of the season.

I am already immensely grateful for what Dave has done and it is just reward that he should become acting manager. I will still be involved in my regular duties within the team management but Dave's further experience of leadership should allow us to broaden our expectations for the 2012 season.

Racing now becomes my focus and I realise I have a massive and tall task ahead of me."

It is unusual for a team to make changes such as these in the middle of the season, particularly when you consider the position the Midnight team is in at present; we will have to wait and see whether this move will affect the team over the remainder of the season.
