Newly signed Draig Racing reserve driver Scott Woodwiss believes that his new team still has the potential to be SimInk Superleague champions in the future, after a surprisingly strong start to the 2012 season mainly down to the efforts of lead driver and team manager Lee Morris.

Morris currently sits in 3rd place in the Drivers' Championship after two podiums and two 4th place finishes, while the team currently occupy 3rd in the Teams' standings also, merely a point behind 2011 title rivals Nordsjoen. Draig lost the title in the second half of last season due to financial difficulties caused by overspending on development of their car, but with a more sensible approach being applied in 2012, Woodwiss is confident that they will be back to winning ways, despite admiting that it may be a case of later rather than sooner.

"I think I made the right choice coming to Draig, as they are a team that are back on the up" Woodwiss told the media on Monday. "Credit has to go to Lee for taking charge and leading this team forward after a season of 2 sides in 2011. We know that right now Midnight have a big advantage due to the car they've managed to produce this year, but we've got the new package coming for Monaco and as Lee mentioned in the press conference after the race in Spain, it's now or never for us. If this upgrade does not help lift us closer to a winning position, our focus will have to switch to 2013."

"We're hungry for success once again and I think that with the group of people we have here at Draig, it's only a matter of when rather than if we get back to the top and winning ways once again. I fully believe that it can be done and that we can rebuild to culminate in clinching the championship we deserve and should have had last year. It really is just a matter of getting our heads down, getting the laps in in free practice on the race weekends and really utilising the data we obtain from every session. We have to do everything we can to extract the maximum from the package we have at our disposal, and Lee is already doing that and more. His performances in a car that, we admit, really shouldn't be in those positions only highlights further what an exceptional talent he is and his vast experience and raw speed clearly shines through."

Monaco will see the biggest update to Draig's 2012 car this season, with major developments planned to help them take the fight to current runaway championship leaders Midnight Motorsport and their two star drivers Lukas Euler and Nick Rowland, who have shared the opening 5 race victories with Euler up 3 wins to Rowland's 2. While Morris may feel that their advantage is too great, his team have not lost sight and more importantly motivation in eventually achieving their goal to become Superleague champions.

Woodwiss himself put in a creditable display in free practice in Barcelona, racking up 25 laps overall and providing some much needed track time for Draig. Morris continues to have high hopes for his team's new recruit and has been quoted as saying that he can't wait to see Scott show his true potential at the wheel of a Draig Racing car.
