GPVWC Journalist, Roald Reurink, conducted his 1st interview of 2002 today when he spoke to League Administrator, Dan Lawrence.

Hello Dan,

Hi Roald..

How are you?

Good thanks :)

How is it to be back with the new GPVWC league?

It is great!! To be honest, the GPVWC should never have got into the state it did last year. I had real life problems which prevented me from running the league properly, which then resulted in a lot of very angry people. I handled the whole situation poorly. I wanted to take a break for a few weeks to sort my problems out, but there was no-one I trusted willing to take the helm of the league while I was away...which is why I shut the GPVWC down.

I had a conversation with Jason Smith one evening though, and we both agreed that we could bring the GPVWC back, but this time share the Administration duties. So far things are working excellently!...It's really great to be back!

Your DL Racing team pulled out of the league, why?

As the Team Administrator, it would have been impossible to compete fairly as I have access to too much 'inside information'...I wouldn't have used this to my advantage...but I was sure that I would have been accused of this.

I wanted my team to win...and as soon as I did win I could imagine people shouting 'cheat!'

At the end of the day though, I am not bothered as DL Racing will race somewhere in 2002.

What do you think your chances are as driver?

Hmm!... Well, I think I can definately score points!

It depends really...If I am teamed up with someone like Endean or Smith..I will be a definate number 2 driver..I don't consider myself to be at their level. Thats not to say I am really slow! I was Jason Smith's team mate in the GPTC, and I learnt a lot from him...I qualified just a few tenths behind him at France in 2000..and he is a previous GPVWC race winner...so I am not that bad....It will show in the tests anyway......

What is your main goal next season?

For the league?

To prove to the few doubters out there that we are back and really mean business...

For driving?

If I get a drive!.....to reach the podium would be nice...and is quite a realistic aim for me. I would also like to give a team some good consistent results, which I know I can do.

Thanks Dan..

No Problem!
