Following the recent advertisement from Kernow Sport, offering a one-off Superleague race to a debut driver, Ihab Abbas has been chosen from amongst the applicants to take over the no.25 car for the Singapore Grand Prix.

After reviewing the potential and desire of the race-seat candidates, Kernow Sport opted for the Egyptian driver (Superleagues first). He has previous experience in the Masters Series, World Sport Series, Supercup and Formula Challenge (where he has scored podium finishes). He also showed a strong desire to race for the team and compete in Superleague. He really wanted the chance to display his talents and put his name out there for consideration in 2013. Kernow felt this was enough to offer Abbas the seat over the other applicants. He will also attend the Young Drivers Test for the team beside regular test driver Nick Newcombe.

So Ihab, how're you looking forward to this opportunity to compete for Kernow Sport in the Superleague? Are you excited?

Ihab: Sure I am. It's a big event for me to get behind the wheel of an F1 car driving for a well-known team in a powerful league like GPVWC SL. All these things combined makes my adrenaline come through and heart beats fast. So thanks for giving me this chance.

Considering your inexperience with the car, what are your expectations and aims for the race?

Ihab: This is the big issue I am encountering at the moment along with the small window of time I have ahead of the race to practice the car in a hard track like Singapore. I am quite sure that the team engineers and more experienced drivers will help me with car setup and advice which could make it easier for me during this round. My goal for this race is to bring the car home in a good drivable shape and it will be cool if I could get point out of my SL debut, also I will try to show some skills that could get me a SL contract for the new season 2013.

What are you looking for in 2013? Do you hope taking this opportunity will get you noticed and launch you into a Superleague team for next season?

Ihab: Sure it is a good experience and a good event to attend that could bring an opportunity to get contracted with a SL team. Currently I'm in talks with some existing and potential Superleague teams for the 2013 season and I wish to get the deal done.
