In a move that is sure to surprise a vast number in the paddock, Jamez Shepherd has rejoined the team with which he began his GPVWC career, Midnight Motorsport.

Shepherd first joined Midnight Motorsport in March of this year, taking on the role of data analyst and fourth driver for the team during what was arguable their most successful segment of the season. The relationship came to an end on good terms when Shepherd expressed his desire to lead his own team when he took over the now defunct Red 5 Racing, before then making the move to lead a late season assault with Hawkeye Racing, taking eight podiums in eleven starts and challenging for victories on a number of occasions.

The move is certainly unexpected as whilst Shepherd has been in hot demand following his on track performances, at no point had he been linked with a return to Midnight, with many expecting him to take a seat at Woods, Nordsjoen or even continuing with Hawkeye.

Midnight Motorsport Team Owner Nick Rowland was understandable upbeat about the team's new signing:

"It is an honour to have Jamez return to us for the 2013 season. It is no secret that the skills he brought to the table earlier this year were invaluable in contributing towards our success throughout the early stages of the season. We couldn't ask for a better driver, and team player, to bring into the team as we strive to continue our run of form throughout the 2013 season."

Shepherd was equally enthusiastic about the opportunity to rejoin the team with which he began his career:

"I'm delighted to be confirmed back in Midnight colours next year. I had no expectations for the 2013 season. The decision to return to the team wasn't one that I had to think about for long. Receiving an offer to drive alongside the current Driver's Champion and contribute to the fight for another Constructor's championship with the team that dominated the 2012 season was an offer that I simply couldn't refuse."

Once again the Midnight Motorsport team failed to make any mention of what position within the team's lineup the Australian would fulfil, with current Midnight Motorsports drivers Nick Rowland and Alex Cooper also in contention to occupy the second seat alongside newly crowned Superleague Champion Lukas Euler who, in September, was confirmed to be remaining with the team for 2013.
