Mixed bag for Walk Racing as Heesterbeek shines while Asbury has troubles.

Famous Indianapolis hosted Round 2 of the 2015 GPVWC Atlantic championship, with this event really being the jewel in the championships crown. The question on everyone's lips was, can Ruud Hesterbeek hold onto the championship lead?

USA Danny Asbury looked incredibly strong going into this race in the practice sessions but his luck changed starting with qualifying where he managed 5th half a second down with Ruud 2nd by 0.076 from pole position.

2nd Ruud Heesterbeek
5th Danny Asbury

After qualifying, front row starting Heesterbeek said "Qualifying was difficult for me. I knew I had the pace to fight for pole, but I kept making small mistakes in my hotlaps. In the last minutes I managed to set a better lap which got me up to P2, which was a good position to be in for the race."

DQ Danny Asbury

Ruud after the race said "At the start of the race the guys behind me made good use of the slipstream and I had to defend my second position. After the first lap I already had a large gap to P3 and I could focus on catching back up to the leader (Jarl Teien). At first, the gap seemed to stay the same, but at the end of the stint he started to make a few more mistakes and I was right on his tail. Jarl gifted me the lead when he missed his braking point in the final sector."

"However in the next lap I made a mistake myself, understeered off the racing line and onto the grass, which caused me to spin. I immediately pitted for fresh tyres and had half the race left to close the gap again. At the end of the race I had caught back up and had a few opportunities to take the lead. With two laps to go I was on the inside for turn 1, kept my line through turns 2 and 3 and was back in the lead. A lap later it was the other way around and Jarl retook the lead at turn 1, so I finished in 2nd place."

Danny Asbury had his bad luck struck in race also, when avoiding a race incident he got a drive thru penalty for exceeding track limits, even do he did the penalty he still got a DQ.

Team boss Mr C said "This was the start of a preatty average week in simracing for Walk Racing, i don't want to be to pesimistic, 2nd place is great but pair with a DQ,not so, our big lead in team stadings has vanished and that is not good.Next round on oval should be interestingas plenty can happen so hopefully we can make it happen"
