US based Australian business man and gentleman racer, Dan Regan, along with the general manager of Southern Cross Windmill's Australian operations, Peter 'Rabbit' Harding have taken over the interests of struggling Dutch Formula One team Mommark.

The team will now be known as Southern Cross United Motorsports. The team was taken over at the 12th hour when it seemed they would have to withdraw the cars from this weekend's first round. Regan stating "I've waited years for my opportunity to drive a Grand Prix car and wasn't gonna let the small setback of my team going broke ruin that dream!" Regan is motorsports oldest rookie in history at 39 years of age.

Both Managers have a long background in racing in Australia, both coming thru the ranks of Formula Ford, Formula Holden and the Shell Touring Car Championships. Hr Harding still races in Australia and manages the consortium's Formula Holden and STCC teams as well as driving the full season in the STCC himself. Mr Regan manages and last season drove for the sucessful Team Oz in the Indy Racing League. For the past few years Harding has gone to the States to drive in the Indy 500 and Regan has returned home to team up with Harding for the V8 Supercar 1000 at Mount Panorama.

The driving team consists of Regan, himself, as lead driver and promising young Italy-based Irishman, William Ponissi, has been retained as number 2 driver. Harding who is reputed to have developed his racing skills and earned his nickname attempting to decimate Australia's feral rabbit population in a FJ Ute on the family farm will eventually take over the teams testing duties.

in a final quote Regan said "You've gotta love the Irony of an Australian windmill manufacturer rescuing a stuggling Dutch outfit."

One can't help but draw comparisons between this team and the Minardi team in the rival Bernie Ecclestone owned competition. Only time will tell if S.C.U.M. can match Mirardi's first round success.
