In the last few minutes Dan Lawrence has confirmed h has a contract with BA Racing for the remainder of the 2002 season.

"I have always been friendly with Neil [BA Racing], and throughout my bad experience recently with DPI he was extremely supportive. He has had BIG troubles with drivers all throughout the 2002 season so far. He recently sacked Jarno Zuiderdhuin who has let the team down badly. I suggested that I could drive for him if he bought my contract from DPI, and he immediately agreed."

"The deal was going very well, but we hit a big problem. My DPI contract was for 2 years, and Neil wanted to keep all avenues open and was only interested in a 1 year contract. I didn't see anyway of the deal going through, but then it occured to me that my DPI contract said nothing about the capacity in which I had to drive, so I suggested that I could drive the 2002 season, and if I failed to impress Neil and the rest of the BA Racing team - I would be their test-driver in 2003. This situation suited everyone - so the deal was signed."

"I am REALLY looking forward to Brazil. I am confident of a good grid position and a strong result. I don;t have any experience with the car yet, but I am sure it won't take long to get to grips with at all."
