Stealth-Honda, the former MaMa Racing Team, was officially unveiled to the media today. Following days of speculation after the demise of MaMa, the GPVWC was able to confirm the arrival of Stealth last weekend, during the San Marino Grand Prix. Much to the team's pleasure, new lead driver Joe Consiglio qualified 2nd and finished 4th in his debut race, a performance which has already boosted the new team past the Dizzo team in the standings.

Today, team manager Ted Cragg formally introduced himself and the team's new car to the league. 20 year old Cragg, a native of Ontario Canada, is the Owner & CEO of Stealth Grand Prix, of which Stealth-Honda will be a subsidiary. Formed in 2000, Stealth GP also operates Stealth-Porsche in the GP2World Championship and Stealth Racing in the Cart Racing League. Cragg explained the team's quick move into the GPVRC: "I discovered the league by chance little over a week ago when looking for new opportunities for Stealth. The more I looked over the various details and dialogues, I knew that this was worth our time and effort. Despite the Team section statement on no new vacancies, I applied anyways in case something came up. I was thus quite surprised when Dan Lawrence told me that the MaMa team was pulling out. Acting quickly, I assured him that Stealth was keen on taking over ASAP and the deal was arranged."

Unveiled at the press conference was the team's new car, a variation on their GP2World model. The car is based on Stealth Blue, the team's official colour which appears on their website and all of their cars. The crisp and clean looking car features two diagonal Stealth Blue stripes, one at the rear and one across the front, on a plain white background. The team's sponsors, which have carried over from MaMa, are then placed conveniently over the car, along with the Stealth GP logo.

#1 driver Joe Consiglio was present at the launch, and was very excited and encouraged by the quick transition. "It was nice to hear all about the team, I'm sure Stealth Grand Prix will do great this year!" stated Consiglio. Reflecting on his first GPVWC race, he said "My goal this year is to finish a race on the podium. That was my first race ever in the GPVWC so I was plesantly surprised it went so well." Test driver Brian Bloemendal was curiously absent from the race, and Cragg played down skepticism over his future at the team. "I can't give you many details yet, as there are many I don't know myself. All I can tell you is that Brian is under contract as our test driver, whether that will change is uncertain at this time, but Brian does have an option on the 2nd race seat. We were disappointed by his absence from the Imola race, but with his speed and energy he has the potential for some fine results."

It thus appears that Stealth-Honda is still searching for a full time driver for the 2nd car, but with the recent increase in eligble drivers this shouldn't be a difficulty. "Besides," says Cragg, "who wouldn't want to race for such an exciting and dedicated team?"

Stealth-Honda thus now takes its place front and centre in the GPVWC. Cragg feels quietly confident of results and performance. "Joe's race is a great building block for the future, and he is certainly capable of consistent results. Our objective is to maintain a solid reliability record and score consistent points, even if they are lower than expected. The motto of Stealth GP is 'consistency and dedication', an attitude that has carried us through many obstacles and triumphs in the past. With this guiding us, our goal is a top 5 finish in the championship in 2002."

The team is expected to make a brief appearance at Magny Cours testing this week, and Cragg himself will also take some unofficial laps behind the wheel.

The GPVWC community is invited and encouraged to check out the Stealth Grand Prix website, http://stealth.starfire-racing.de, which will soon be modified to include a section on the newest subsidiary. Team Manager Ted Cragg is available at any time for discussion and dialogue on MSN and ICQ, as Stealth-Honda sets out on the road to success here in the Grand Prix Virtual World Championship.
