BA Racing F1 driver, Dan Lawrence, finished in 2nd place in the 2nd Grand Prix of the 2002 F3000 Championship yesterday. The Briton, who is mixing F1 with F3000 this year, was reportedly 'disappointed' with this result.

"I should have won. Everything that was needed to win was there infront of me, and I blew it. In warmup, I trialled a variety of setups.....unfortunately I chose a bad setup for the race, which hindered my progress by about 1 second per lap...after the race, I asked the organisers if I could drive a few more laps ....they said no, so I punched them all, knocking them out cold! ..so was able to drive anyway!...I made a few changes to the car, and was immediately on Erdem's race pace."

"Something has been learned from this race however, and I gues it did give me a bucketload of Championship points. Hopefully the job will be done at the next race, although F1 is my first and foremost priority."

Just as we were about to ask a further question, a police car sped up and screeched to a halt just beside us. Lawrence was arrested for 'punching with deadly intent', and slapped very hard by a female officer. He then ran and hid in his motorhome.....some people said they heard him crying. [it was a very hard slap] ...
