Mikko Jakonen had the following to say after qualifying: "It was obvious that this track would be a different affair than Monaco. I didn't drive at Monza [testing], and my arm still hurts from Monaco, so I was a bit weary getting into the car."

"On the first lap I broke my wing in the last corner, which I've never felt really comfortable with, so I had to jump to the T-car. It was set for a high downforce, so I negotiated the first and second sectors faster than anybody today; after that it was a pity to lose over 0.7 seconds in the last straight and last corner even to Consiglio, who has as underpowered engine as we do. That was a disappointment, as it's partly because I was a bit afraid going into the last corner after the incident I had there in the beginning of the session. And to see Graydon get by me with such a close margin was not nice."

"The result today is O.K. but not as good as we could've had. 3rd place would have been quite possible. Now we have to rethink the car setup for the race, and adjust our strategies with Kieran so that we can again finish higher than we qualified. We can't hope for a win at such a fast track, but a podium finish is definitely something we may get, if everything works out perfect."
