Superleague outfit Nordsjoen Racing announced their signing of Agustin Canapino as driver for the 2014 season.

The Argentine joins the team after a successful partial campaign in the Supercup, which culminated in two wins and one second place in four outings.

Nordsjoen also announced the signing of Thomas Jacobs as test driver, the former Formula Challenge race winner joining to support the team's development programme.

The team will release their full lineup at a later stage.

William Ponissi, Team Principal, Nordsjoen Racing-Martex:

"It is an absolute pleasure to welcome Agustin to Nordsjoen. We have been following his progress, both in simracing and in real life, for a very long time and it's great to see him in Nordsjoen colours for 2014. He adapted really quickly to the Supercup car in the four races he has taken part in and he was a force to be reckoned with. We are confident he will be able to compete at the front against one of the most challenging Superleague fields in the GPVWC's history. Everyone in the team is really looking forward to working with him again after his good performance at the Young Driver Test.

"It is also a pleasure to welcome Thomas Jacobs to the team. Third drivers have an important role and his commitment and ability are crucial to the success of our 2014 campaign. He impressed us in 2013 and the work he has done with TheSixthAxis is the kind of work we are looking for at Nordsjoen."

Agustin Canapino, driver, Nordsjoen Racing-Martex:

"I am really happy to be with Nordsjoen for the 2014 season. I have worked with the team's previous incarnation, EIRE, in the past and I was always looking forward to rejoin one of the best teams on the grid. The 2014 Superleague looks set to be one of the most competitive championships in history and I feel the team is already working really hard to make sure we have the best possible chance of success. It will be crucial to hit the ground running with winter testing and be getting good results from Melbourne."

Thomas Jacobs, test driver, Nordsjoen Racing-Martex

"Joining an historic and successful team like Nordsjoen means a lot to me and is a great honour. I never though that I would be joining one of the top teams in the series after just 13 months of racing. It's given me a huge confidence boost in my abilities and I plan to do everything I possibly can to help the team progess and develop throughout the 2014 Superleague season. When I was first contacted by Mr Ponissi about the test role, I didn't quite understand what I had done to grab the attention of one of the top teams in Superleague. Sure I got 5 podiums in Formula challenge including a win in my debut season, but towards the end of the Formula Challenge season I saw my perfomance deteriorate. But I must have done something right to grab the eye of a top team. Testing with Nordsjoen in Superleague, while driving for TheSixthAxis Racing in Supercup will be tricky. But I believe that testing with Nordsjoen will give not just myself, but the whole TSA team a massive boost in the 2014 Supercup season."
