A dry weekend for championship leader Maciej Mlynek saw Dutchman Stephane Rouault close down to within 10 points of the top of the standings with a win and a podium.
In a season in which Scuderia Basilea and its drivers rarely abandoned the front of the field, it seemed business as usual for Maciej Mlynek as he stormed to pole position in Barcelona. YTF1's Yuri Kasdorp split the Pole from his team-mate Stephane Rouault in third.

The race, however, proved different as it was Dutchman Rouault to come out on top, beating his teammate and championship rival by 7s. Roy Schroten finished third for a popular podium, with Bence Zsupanek and Kasdorp following.

Any desire of revenge had to be shelved in race two. On a rare bad day Mlynek, starting in P6, slipped to ninth, with Kasdorp claiming victory ahead of Zsupanek and Rouault. Reverse polesitter Antonio Hreljanovic was only 14th.

The results see the gap at the top of the standings dwindle to 10 points, with Schroten closing in to within 22 points of the lead. In the teams' championship, Basilea remains steadily on top with a hefty 115-point gap to THUnderdog.
