The 2022 Formula Sprint 1 will be the 1st GPVWC Formula Sprint 1 season. The name was created to replace the GPVWC Supercup Series which did run for 14 seasons.

Teams and drivers
Team changes
- H20 Namaco, Razor GP, Crossfire PLS Racing Team and 2019 champions Pescara ADG were promoted to Superleague Lights.
- Cliffhanger Racing and Kellamity MTR opted not to continued after the 2020 season.
New & Returning entries
- Red Arrow Racing joined the series after being dropped down from the Superleague.
- RBA Racing, HGP Motorsports, Nova Simracing, eight-Six Simracing, Santen Motorsports and Fryslan Racing Team were all promoted from the Formula Challenge.
- THR returned to the Career Ladder for the first time since 2014.

2021 Calendar
The 2021 season changed its raceday from the traditional Tuesday to the Thursday, every two weeks. The 2021 calendar follows the 16-round limit introduced in 2019. The first round will take place in Australia and the last will take place in Brazil, with each race taking place on a Thursday, every two weeks. The exception to this will be the customary Summer Break in August,
