Revision as of 04:51, 3 December 2018
The following is a complete list of Grands Prix which have been a part of the GPVWC Superleague since its inception in 2000.
As of the end of the 2015 Superleague season, 256 Grands Prix have been held. Several Grands Prix have had to be cancelled, especially during the 2001 season in which only the first free Grands Prix actually took place. In 2008 the Bahrain and Turkish Grands Prix were cancelled. In 2012, an Indian Grand Prix was planned for but scrapped due to the lack of suitable tracks; it was replaced in the calendar that year by the German Grand Prix.
During that time, only one race track has hosted two different Grands Prix; the Nurburgring was home to the European Grand Prix during the 2000s and hosted the German Grand Prix in 2013. Technically, two countries have hosted more than one Grand Prix; with the case of the Nurburgring, Germany hosted the German Grand Prix and the European Grand Prix at the same time. The only other country to do this was Italy, that hosted the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola as well as the Italian Grand Prix.
The United States Grand Prix has been held at three different venues, more than any other Grand Prix.
Active and past races
The information below is correct as of the start of January 2019 and includes events not yet held
Bold denotes the 16 Grands Prix to be held as part of the 2019 season, and their venues.
2008 denotes a Grand Prix called off rather than removed from the calendar.
Test tracks
The following tracks have been used only for pre-season tests. Several tracks that have served as venues for Grands Prix have also been used for pre-season tests; most have been "demoted" to that role instead of hosting a Grand Prix though some fulfil both roles in the same year.
